John M. O’Banion II

John M. O’Banion II grew up in Houston, Texas, and returned to his hometown of New Orleans in 2019 to pursue postgraduate education. He graduated Cum Laude from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Human Nutrition and Foods. During his time at the University of Houston, John worked with the Human Health and Performance Department on an obesity intervention research project called ‘Take CHARGE,’ led by Katherine R. Arlinghaus, PhD, RD. The study yielded positive results, highlighting the need for staged intervention protocols to better address obesity in schools. This research laid the foundation for a new integrated social-emotional learning and physical nutrition afterschool program, which is currently ongoing.
At Loyola University New Orleans, John earned both his JD and MBA. He was a member of the Loyola Law Review, served as the Chapter Senator for the Phi Delta Phi International Legal Honor Society, participated as a Moot Court Staff Member, and received the Dean’s Scholarship. Throughout law school, he worked for two different plaintiffs’ firms and during his 3L year, John externed at the Eastern District of Louisiana United States District Court, where he drafted bench briefs on tax evasion, arbitration, interstate commerce, and post-judgment issues, as well as a high-profile restaurant supply dispute. At Loyola University School of Business, he worked on a project with the Jefferson Parish American Job Center implementing the Baldridge Performance Excellence Program and collaborated with a local bank on updating their Community Reinvestment Act compliance protocol.
In his free time, John enjoys playing golf, trying new restaurants, attending live music events, running, and is passionate about system processes & competitive strategy. As an attorney, John is dedicated to making a positive impact on his clients’ lives and strives for fair and just outcomes with each case he works on.
